ASBAs are Australian School-based New Apprenticeships
- An ASBA is a government-sponsored agreement between the student, his/her parents, the school, the employer, and perhaps an external RTO such as CIT.
- At Radford an ASBA can be added to an Accredited Package.
- It may involve 3 to 5 days at school, plus1 day at work and perhaps half a day a week training if provided by an external trainer.
- Thus an ASBA student can graduate with a Certificate I and II as well as an ACT Year 12 Certificate.
- Some past ASBAs at Radford have been in Tourism, Hospitality, Floristry, Automotive, Horticulture and Graphic Design.
- Present ASBAs include Hospitality.
- Where an ASBA is not available in a trade/service identified by a student as a career pathway, work experience/vocational placements may be negotiated e.g. Horticulture, Childcare.
