Cocurricular
Radford College offers a diverse cocurricular program, with the emphasis on participation, skill development, teamwork and enjoyment. Cocurricular activities are conducted outside school hours and participation by students is on a voluntary basis.
Once a student has made a commitment to an activity, he or she must complete the season. Attendance at matches, practices and performances is compulsory. If parents wish to have their son/daughter released from a match, practice or performance due to a long-standing commitment, application must be made in writing, at least a week in advance, to the Master or Mistress-in-Charge of the activity concerned.
Through the cocurricular program, Radford College aims to achieve a positive learning experience in an environment that will encourage students to:
- participate in a broad range of activities
- set personal goals and reach them
- accept responsibility for their own progress
- prepare themselves for life after school
- develop self esteem and confidence
- develop self discipline within their chosen activities
- accept responsibility for their own actions, and
- participate with confidence in a wide range of activities within a group situation.
Students have the opportunity to achieve many positive experiences through cocurricular endeavour, as well as to improve relations between themselves, staff and the wider community. Their experiences inevitably foster attitudes and values that students can take with them into adult life.
