The above image was derived from the College Strategic Plan 2011-2015 using Wordle software (http://www.wordle.net/) and a little help from Ms Susan Davenport. It is interesting to see the prominence our plan (“Think Connect Transform”) gives to key priorities and concepts, which are encapsulated in simple words. I offer it as my piece for this week, preferring to rely on brevity and imagination. It reminds us why we are here and what all our activity means.
Boil the kettle and muse over the image for a short while, before resuming this very busy time of the year.
FROM THE REGISTRAR
Mrs Sally Mordike
Notice of Withdrawal from Radford
Families wishing to withdraw a student from the College are reminded that a letter to the Principal is required giving at least one term's notice to avoid any financial penalty. This letter needs to be signed by all/both the original signatories to the student's enrolment. A term’s notification not only helps families avoid the withdrawal penalty of half a term’s fee, it also means that new families can be offered places at the school in good time.
Please contact the Registrar, Sally Mordike, on 6162 6212 or by e-mail if you require any clarification or advice.
(No notice is required for students who will be leaving the College as Year 12 graduates at the end of the year, but notice is required for mid-year leavers from Year 12.)

From the Head of Senior School
Mr Allan Shaw
Unit Score Check Day - Year 11 and Year 12
Unit Score Check Day is a compulsory school day on Wednesday 27th June between 9 – 12am. The process may take up to 2 hours for some students, but usually only an hour or so.
Uniform is not required.
If for some reason a student cannot attend, leave needs to be sought in writing by parents contacting Mr Shaw. The student (not your parent!) must also then give written permission for someone to check their results for them. Hand this to the Year Co-ordinator. It is in your best interest to make sure that the proxy knows what it is to expect to see on the spreadsheets (all marks) and that they actually check exams etc.
In department areas you will have access to any work that you have not yet been able to access, including exams and any assignments. You must check the marking of these and the addition of the marks.
In the common room, all spreadsheets will be published and it is each student’s responsibility to check that the marks are accurately recorded for each task. On your REPORTS you will see a UNIT SCORE which may look like a percentage but actually reflects your RANK in the cohort for that subject. This is NOT scaling!!!
Year 12 Revue - “The Apocalist”
Performances: Week 1, Term 3 (26th, 27th, 28th July)
The Year 12 cohort would like to invite the community to witness the journey of students in trying to save the world from a plague – ‘2012 the end of the world’!
From the Year 9 Camp Coordinator
Parent Information Session:
Outward Bound will be running an information session for parents of Year 9 students on Wednesday 1st August 6.30pm – 7.30pm in the Leyshon Lecture Theatre. This session is NOT for students – they will have their own information session during the day. This session is an opportunity for parents to find out more about the course and to have any general questions be answered by Outward Bound staff.
These are available to download from the document library on the Year 9 Camp RadNet page. These need to be completed and returned to tutors by Friday 17th August.
If your child has a medical condition that you would like to discuss with the Radford Year 9 Camp Coordinator and Outward Bound staff you will be able to book a 15 minute meeting for the afternoon of 1st August, between 3.00 – 5.30pm to discuss how we can best care for them whilst on camp. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to organise a meeting.
