Pathways Presentations at Radford

A program of expert speakers has been organised for Year 10, 11 and 12 students in a variety of areas to assist them in their career planning.  Each week there is usually a presentation in Room 50 from 1:15 - 1:45pm (bring your lunch). 

á         Academy of Interactive EntertainmentÐ find out about Certificate II courses in Games, Film and 3D on Thursday 18 February.

á         Australian Defence Force Recruiting presentation  - for interested Yr 10-12 students on Thursday 4 March, period 2 in Room 50.

Veterinary Science Open Day 2010 at the University of Melbourne

á         Sunday 21 March 2010, 10amÐ3pm

á         Faculty of Veterinary Science, Werribee campus

 

The Veterinary Science Open Day is an opportunity for future students and the community to go behind the scenes at our state-of-the-art Veterinary Hospital in Werribee. You will have the chance to speak to veterinary staff, join in interactive activities, meet current students and take a tour of our outstanding facilities.

 

This yearÕs Open Day will be run in conjunction with the Wyndham City CouncilÕs annual Pet Fair, making it a great day for future students, families and the community.

 

Course and career advice will be available throughout the day, giving prospective students and their parents the opportunity to learn about the various pathways to the UniversityÕs new Doctor of Veterinary Medicine graduate program.

 

The Veterinary Science Open Day will be held at the University of Melbourne Veterinary

Hospital, 250 Princes Highway, Werribee, Victoria.

GERRIC gifted student holiday workshops at UNSW

Programs feature two-day workshops (Scientia Challenge Ð for grades 7-10 (12-16 years) from a wide range of disciplines presented by teachers with post-graduate training qualifications in gifted education, university academics or those who are considered experts in their field.

 

The workshop content is both rigorous and challenging Ð designed to stimulate the interests and curiosity of the academically gifted. Our workshops encourage you to learn more about yourself, develop relationships, enjoy the company and stimulation of like-minded students whilst learning and having fun together. GERRIC want all students to have the most worthwhile experience possible while participating in the GERRIC gifted student holiday workshops.

Letz Live GAP year opportunities

Established in 2005, Letz Live is one of a number of organizations providing GAP year opportunities for young people around the world. In the few short years since Letz Live began operation, they have grown from offering GAP opportunities solely in the United Kingdom to working with schools in every continent (and if there were boarding schools in Antarctica Ð they would try there too!!). They have Gap Year placements for 2011 available in Canada, South Africa, United Kingdom, Thailand and Vietnam.  Their entire crew have personally experienced a GAP year in boarding schools or lived and worked abroad. They are a young, fun and exciting organisation that is always looking to improve their services and opportunities for young people. Simply, they believe that their program is second to none!  Apply online. Applications must be received BEFORE 3 April.

Lattitude 2011 Ð Gap Year Opportunities

Applications are now open for placements in 2011 and the priority deadline date is Friday 14 May 2010. Please note: for the best chance of securing your first placement preference, it is advisable that applicants apply by the priority deadline date.

 

Lattitude will be mailing copies of their 2011 brochure and application form in the next two weeks, but in the meantime please click here to view it.  They have placements in 15 different countries and six different roles are on offer for next year, and are pleased to announce that placements in Mexico have now been confirmed for 2011.

School talks and information nights are currently being organised and will be in the coming months around the country. Interviews will be held in Canberra this year in June and July.

Royal Federation of Aero Clubs Australia - learn to fly scholarship competition

á         Closing Date: 23rd February 2010

á         Sponsored by: AIRSERVICES AUSTRALIA

á         Value: FOUR Prizes valued at $6000 each (Total prize value $24000)

á         Age: Must be 16 years at announcement of winner

á         Flying Completed: Flying must be completed within twelve months from winning competition

á         How to enter: Just take a Trial Introductory Flight with an RFACA member Club

á         How does it work: CFI's will assess each student and choose the top 10% of entrants at each Club. These names will be put into a barrel and the winners will be drawn.

AOPA and Airservices Australia Flying Training Scholarships

Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association of Australia and Airservices Australia have entered into an agreement to fund three scholarships per year, each to the value of $6,000. The purpose of these scholarships is to provide flying training to accepted standards in the field of general aviation.

Applications for the 2010 scholarship close on 30 April 2010.
