Middle School
Middle Schooling at Radford College (Years 5-7) is about engaging, focussing and sustaining the interests of young adolescents. It aims to celebrate the unique gifts and qualities of each child and prepare them for confident entry into the High School (Years 8-10). It emphasises values, collaboration and discovery in an supportive learning environment with staff who specialise in the middle years of schooling and appreciate the energy, humour, unpredictability, curiosity and imagination of young people.
The Middle School at Radford opened at the beginning of 2004. For the first time, Years 5 and 6 students attended the College. Middle School structures are different in every school, although there are some common beliefs about the philosophy of middle schooling. The teachers appointed to the inaugural staff of the Middle School at Radford had a strong commitment to nurturing early adolescent students within a positive and supportive environment.
Now, we are in our fourth year of the middle School, with the imminent opening of the Junior School which will complete the development of Radford. The teachers are just as committed to Middle Schooling, and are constantly refining the curriculum and practices to meet the needs of the students. We aim to celebrate the unique qualities of each student and prepare them for confident entry into the High School.
