Middle Years - Years 7 & 8
The Middle Years are the bridge between primary school and high school. We aim to celebrate and cater for the unique needs and qualities of young adolescents. As a result we will provide multiple opportunities for every student to experience success.
The Middle Years will provide a broad range of teaching and learning activities that build upon the transdisciplinary approach of primary school and prepare students for the subject based approach of high school. The program will be differentiated where appropriate to cater to the needs of each individual student.
In Year 7 students will have a tutor that will teach them for two subjects. In Year 8 their tutor will teach them for one subject. They will also be exposed to the wealth of talent from experienced specialist teachers.
Students will study English, Maths, Science, History/Geography, HPE, RaVE and LOTE as the core subjects. In addition they will participate in rotations over the two years covering ICT, Drama, Music, Food Studies, Woodwork , Art, Graphics and Design and Textiles.
Students will all be involved in a service learning activity of their choice. Values Education will be taught by tutors.
Students will have the opportunity to be involved in a wide range of enrichment activities, such as:
- The Da Vinci Decathlon (an academic gala day for Years 7 and 8)
- Future Problem Solving (an international problem solving program)
- A Year 7/8 Arts Festival
- Philosothon (a national philosophy/thinking challenge)
